Left to Right, James, E and Mango perform a special move in unison during the lunchtime intermission. Mango chose this frame because he liked the way the tips of the skis were visible through the snow. I like the great spray that they are throwing up. Although they made this look easy, I suspect it is not as simple as it seems. Rest assured that I will challenge them more at the next opportunity. Please note that James and Mango are NOT, I repeat, NOT holding hands ;).
Mango cuts through the trees in the woods between the Mall and Twist. This shot was one of my favorites, even though his face is slightly obscured by the branches.
E, seen here in the woods between Twist and the Mall, joined us in the deeper woods for her first time ever. We were all set to give her tips like "Look at the spaces, not the trees", but she seemed to grasp that concept on her own.
Here's James cranking a turn around a tree in the Twist / Mall woods; the powder spray really made this shot for me. This was my favorite snow of the day, 6-12 inches plus in most areas. It contained a light layer of new snow (around 3-4 inches) with a slightly thicker layer below from earlier in the week.
James in his new goggles; no longer will he have to go blind through the trees and hope for the best ;) Actually I took this shot because it showed the snowflakes as the snow began to pick up in the afternoon. Small flakes just sort of make the image fuzzy, but big flakes are more visible.
